Event Follow up – THE FUTURE OF PRODUCTION MUSIC: OPPORTUNITIES, CHALLENGES & THREATS

A packed Sportsmen's Lodge was the scene of the recent PMA event in Los Angeles where panelists discussed The Future Of Production Music: Threats, Challenges & Opportunities.  Panelists Al Kennedy (CBS Television Marketing), Shawn LeMone  (ASCAP), Hunter Williams (SESAC), Ray Yee (BMI), and Gary Gross (Universal Publishing Production Music) were guided in a multifaceted discussion by Warner/Chappell Production Music's Randy Thornton.  Topics included were digital carve-outs, challenges to copyright, foreign royalties, and the especially problematic issues of direct licensing and the frequent requests composers receive to write music for free with only back-end compensation.
