“Wheeling and Dealing” - Navigating the Ever-Changing World of Library Composer Deals
Karen Falzone has owned and managed Mostly Music, a business affairs and licensing
consultancy, since 2007, and is also currently the co-owner of 2nd Mountain Music. Prior to making the leap into self-employment, Karen spent 15 years working in-house, most recently acting as Director of Business Affairs - Production at Starz Entertainment, where she oversaw rights and clearances for all original productions, including talent and music. Karen spends her time consulting with many varied clients in the areas of music business affairs, overall strategies and contracts and licensing for all forms of film, television, videogame and other production. She has worked in the production music industry for many years, first obtaining blanket licenses on behalf of Starz and continuing to today in her role representing technology companies, music publishers, producers, and composers of many different genres of production and television music, as well as providing research and clearance services to networks and production companies. Karen is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS), the Production Music Association (PMA), the California Copyright Conference (CCC), and the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP).
