Chances are, even if you’ve never heard his name before, you’ve likely heard Mark Petrie's music, and probably recently. Whether it's epic hybrid music behind one of the trailers for the latest blockbuster, a news theme, video game score or light orchestral background fare for fancy French hi tech public restrooms, Mark’s work is heard daily by millions of people around the world.
Mark’s musical education began in New Zealand, where he spent his youth before moving to the US to study composing for motion picture. A move to Los Angeles was spurred on by his winning of the BMI Peter Carpenter Fellowship, where he learned from TV music icon Mike Post.
While he continues to write for TV, a strong affinity for cinematic, sweeping and epic writing meant it was a natural progression for Mark to focus more on trailer music in recent years. His music has been featured in dozens of game and movie trailers, including recent notable titles: Dark Phoenix, Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Overwatch, Voltron: Legendary Defender and Blade Runner 2049.
Aside from the tv and trailer work, Mark has also scored more than fifty films, and works periodically in the game industry. Notable game credits include Madden NFL and World of Warcraft.
