Our Digital Demo Derby serves as an opportunity to get quality feedback from industry experts. Each quarter, we will utilize a different set of requirements for submissions, including but not limited to: genre, placement purpose (ie. for advertising, video game, documentary, sports, etc.).

In each round, the PMA Composer Advisory Committee will host a live review session, accompanied by special guests!

Creative Instruction for March, 2024:

Brief One:

  • It's March Madness, NBA Finals, MLB season, NHL season, and NFL trade frenzy. We're looking for sports cues that can be used across a variety of promos that are high energy and have big impact. Orchestral hip hop could work, heavy rock riff, etc. Know the sound of your sport and be sure to indicate what sport, when submitting.

Brief Two:

  • INSTRUMENTAL ONLY
  • The spot is a Pixar animation-style :15 where the first :06 or so is in the fast food restaurant, focused on kid at table with family, then they reach into kids' meal and get toy and suddenly Boom they're dancing to this pop song that sounds like it was comes off of a KidzBop record or something, super shiny modern happy, kind of a Justin Timberlake vibe to it, but any frothy pop could potentially work. Boy band, k-pop, anything Fun and Light that will work in a Pixar spot with kids dancing to the track. Structurally, it's like they took the big intro of the song and deployed under first 6 seconds, then cut straight to the big chorus which plays us out.

Notes & Deadlines:

  • Tracks must submitted via link, NO DOWNLOADS. Disco, ReelCrafter, etc. preferred.
  • Metadata preferred.
  • Please indicate which brief you are submitting for in the Google Form.
  • Tracks must not be represented by a third party licensing entity.
  • Deadline to submit your work is March 18, 2024.
  • Please contact Morgan McKnight at morgan@pmamusic.com with any questions.

The listening session will take place on Zoom at 10:00am PT on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. You can register for the session here: https://pmamusic.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZcqd-qsrTMoHt3dwha5yjh8P-8CAxYX-m5j
