Join us for an insightful discussion where catalog owners, music supervisors, and composers gain insights into each other's perspectives. While it may seem like there's competition among us, our shared goal is to deliver the perfect music for our clients' needs.

The role of a music supervisor can be overwhelming, with numerous options to sift through. Library owners face the challenge of aligning their catalogs with supervisor demands, while composers strive to create relevant content without direct end-user feedback.

Compounding these challenges is the delay inherent in the communication process. While supervisor needs may be immediate, catalog updates can take months. Hence, proactive anticipation of upcoming needs is crucial for timely response.

We'll delve into strategies such as identifying current trends, analyzing past successes, maintaining evergreen projects, and forecasting future trends to build agile catalogs. Effective communication among stakeholders is key to executing these strategies and achieving collective success.

Whether you're an experienced music supervisor, a library owner seeking efficiency, or a composer aiming for career growth, this panel promises valuable insights and actionable strategies. Join us as we navigate the intricacies of teamwork, strategic catalog development, and client satisfaction.

Guest Reviewers:

Belinda Robles, Music Director, Megatrax
Megatrax is always looking for fresh, trendy, relevant music for promos, trailers and advertising. Tracks for advertising should be catchy, original and attention-grabbing. Tracks for trailers should be dramatic, emotionally engaging and building with ample hits and edit points.

Vocals are not essential, but if you do submit vocal tracks please be sure that all vocal hooks are sync-friendly.

Some of the styles that we are currently looking for include: Modern Trailers, Top 40 Pop, current hip-hop,  K-Pop, J-Pop, music for videogames and authentic Latin styles. All music submitted to Megatrax must be 100% original, available for release and eligible for worldwide copyright registration.

Ryan Perez-Daple, U.S. Head of Production, Universal Production Music
I always like to tell potential composers to illustrate what they do the best. A unique perspective or a high level of skill in a useful or under represented style within the catalog is always a great way to start writing for Universal. With that in mind, create something that shows your unique skills that you think would perform with our clients.

Sami Posner, Founder & Music Supervisor, Blue Lily Music
Currently looking for source material for a new Netflix comedy series set in contemporary Mississippi. The show follows the story of a middle aged woman who runs for Lt. Governor of Mississippi. When she wins, her life completely changes and she has to balance her new role with her colorful family, whose ideas of decorum aren't exactly in line with her own, nor many of her new colleagues. Throughout the show, the lead character comes to find that which is embarrassing or shameful is actually something to proudly embrace! We follow the tenacious character as she carefully navigates her new political role, fighting bureaucratic red tape in the name of what's right! Overall, the musical tone of the show is rooted in the bluesy sound of the Delta, but with a contemporary hip-hop/trap undertone. Additionally, we have many car rides in this show and have relied on a variety of genres to help detail each character's style. Genres include contemporary neo soul, funk, and empowering pop both with male and female vocals.
